Following a very busy week on Magnetic Island which saw Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea raise, so far, about $5,250 for cancer research, with a hugely entertaining event yesterday, attention is now shifting to the upcoming Horseshoe Bay School Reunion tomorrow and Bay of Origin rugby league match on Sunday.

Magnetic Island's very popular version of Australia's Biggest Morning Tea returns tomorrow to the Solar Cities Smart Lifesyle Centre in Horseshoe Bay. In the past, this event has shown that Magnetic Island has been Australia's most generous community when it comes to aiding cancer research. Few may know that the Magnetic Island RSL has the largest Citizen's Auxilliary in Queensland with some 90 members. It is clearly a great expression of support for the organisation, which has also proudly maintained itself and activities without resorting to the use of poker machines. But while the RSL is clearly appreciated in the community who have been happy to take up membership in large numbers, sadly, just 5 Auxilliary members are actively participating with hands-on activities.

The Magnetic Island Fire Management Committee is preparing for the up coming fire season. A series of planned burning operations will be conducted on Magnetic Island from May to October, when climatic and weather conditions are suitable.
