Sunset soiree at Nobby Head

FRiends of MI toast the sunset A sunset soiree - the first for Friends of Magnetic Island was held recently on Nobby Head where Tony and Judy Finlay have just won an Individual Environmental Award for their sensitive development of the stunningly picturesque headland.

About 20 Friends gathered to chat, eat and drink and take a walk over the development site which contains some of the most beautiful views on Magnetic.

The "toasted" sunset

The Finlays have built a platform down by the water's edge as a special sunset viewing area which is becoming an attraction in its own right.

Friends of Magnetic were happy to explore the site which sets a precedent in development on Magnetic with covenants limiting building heights, banning fences and lawns and making sure the colours and materials of future bildings are integrated into the landscape.

The walk revealed a huge amount of weed removal from the site which has been matched by heavy mulching and replanting of local native species.

Prue - on the rocks

During the soiree, local Prue Flemming couldn't resist a rocky recline down by the water's edge. Others found the ample red wine supply similarly hard to resist. It was a delightful evening and a great start for Friend's social activities.
