James Edward Bell: 31 January 1964 – 14 June 2009

James Edward Bell On 14 June 2009, James Edward Bell “Jim” beloved husband to Danielle and father of beautiful daughters, Stefanie, Bianca, Luisa and Renata, passed away in the palliative care unit of the Mayo Clinic hospital in Phoenix, Arizona, after a courageous four month battle against an ugly strain of cancer.

Jim had worked for the United Nations since 2001, as a Crime Scene Investigator and later on Security Advisor and served on peacekeeping missions in East Timor and Afghanistan. Prior to his service with the United Nations, Jim worked with the NSW police as a senior constable and before that with the Australian Department of Defense as an Investigator/Crime Scene examiner. His successful global career and service to his country stemmed from his strong work ethic and commitment to helping others.

Jim was deeply loved by his wife, daughters, mother, family and friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He will be fondly remembered as a loving and devoted husband, a fun loving, cuddly and wonderful father and a loyal friend.

Jim and Danielle have been residents of Magnetic Island since 2007and the family has countless fond memories of the island.

A memorial service was held for Jim at The Oaks Catholic Church (St. Aloysius) Camden, Wollondilly, NSW Australia on Wednesday 24th June. His wife and children have returned to Magnetic Island to put his ashes at the Magnetic Island Memorial Gardens and also scatter his ashes at West Point beach, the family's favourite spot.

Jim was a lovely man, very vibrant and full of life and he was a devoted husband and father. His passing is so very tragic. I feel fortunate to have known Jim and my heart goes out to Danielle, a truely amazing woman, and to Jim's daughters, family and friends.

A young Man taken far to early,
I sympathise with Jims Wife and his Children,
I hope they will find comfort knowing their beloved husband and father no longer has to suffer
the pain of this dreadful desease.. They will have been left with loving memories that they will
carry in their hearts to cherish forever,
I do not know the family personally, but I do know how their hearts will be aching with their loss,
and I pray time will ease their pain.

An ancient quotation
in honor of an ancient soul:

To know others is to be knowledgeablle,
To know oneself is enlightenment,
To master others is to have strength,
To master oneself is to be powerful.

To know what is sufficient is to be rich,
To act with determination is to have will,
Not to lose one's substance is to endure.
To die, but not be forgotten, is to be Immortal.
