Musos Club back this Saturday

With a recent postponement and the replacement in June of the usual Musos Club arrangements, to make way for a major visiting act, regulars could be forgiven for wondering what has happened to the regular second Saturday of the month Musos Club gigs. Well, it is the busy time of year and, with limited resources, the club has had to shuffle a little to accommodate demands on both musos and audiences. Suffice to say this month's rescheduled Musos Club returns to the RSL this Saturday night (July 25) at 7pm.

On the ticket are the, in-demand, Shed 9 who have had a number of singles featuring well up on the Triple Jay Unearthed list earlier this year. It's great to see that a band which gained its first exposure through MI Musos Club will be returning with their goods.

Sweet Thing, Magnetic's most original, and rhythmically complex outfit are presently reduced to what bass player and Musos' Club President, Ray Kennedy, refers to as “the remains” with several of the usual members out of action. The “remains” are presently Ray and song writer and vocalist Helene Rankin. Without the adornment of a full band it will be fascinating to see how the two remake their sound from their musical ground upwards.

The other booked line-up for the night have been a perennial Musos Club attraction for over a year now. It is none other than Magnetic's teen band, The Jay Walkers who are a constantly moving target, growing musically and, well, just growing up, at the same time.

Musos Club is one of the best ways to meet locals and hear authentic Island music. The club also tries to include open-mic opportunities for visitors and locals keen to show their musical stuff as time permits.

Nel's delicious Indonesian meals will be available again from the RSL kitchen and the bar will be open throughout.

Magnetic Island Musos Club starts at 7pm at the RSL Hall on Hayles Ave in Arcadia. A gold coin donation from members and a five dollar donation from visitors is appreciated.
