A special Musos Club Sunday Session
This Sunday, as part of Magnetic Island Musos Club's contribution to the Bay Days Festival, a special Sunday Session at a different and idyllic location: the Picnic Bay Surf Life Savers Club, beside the beach, at Picnic Bay will be presented and all are welcome. The Session, which starts at 3pm and runs until 7pm, features headline act, Townsville's Lonesome Trio. Anybody who attended last year's Bay Days Cabaret and heard these lonesome boys – lonesome because there are only two of them – in full flight will want to come back for more, much more!
Music website rhythmicbeats.com describe the Lonesome Trio's sound as one that, “comes from deep in the North, creeping like an old steady van down the Bruce Highway .
“It is at once a nod to the past and a stumble towards the future.
“The two piece have played countless bars, shindigs and festivals over the years, including Woodford Folk, Yungaburrra Folk, Palm Creek, Wintermoon, and the prestigious Mt Isa Blues Roots and Rock, although lately they've declined to play weddings.
“With wil joelson (sic) on a full drum kit incorporating elements of percussion and solid free-style beats, a platform is laid for the raw guitar work, frantic harmonica and big vocal approach from Ben.E.Facta.
“At times menacing and treacherous like a late night chartreuse, and at others heart warming like a Bloody Mary breakfast, this guitar and drum combo bring a unique NQ sound to the bar.”
Other acts to be heard during the session include Sweet Thing Remains – the evolving Island outfit that play only original songs, The Jay Walkers, Magnetic's top teen outfit, Marley Hannan a young Magnetic sit-down stand-up with a guitar and, for those who missed us at the MI School Fete, yours truly playing a few originals and the odd cover with the hottest harmonica on Magnetic and beyond, Mr Niels Koelman.
Food by Magnetic's Queen of Indonesian Cuisine Nel Braley will be available and a bar will be serving drinks throughout.
Musos Club is run entirely by volunteers and a gold coin donation will be appreciated on entry to help the club continue to cover its costs and support local music.
This special Musos Club Sunday Session is a great opportunity for locals and visitors alike to relax with some great local music in a location where you can always wander off for a dip at the beach and come back for more music, food and fun.
