With Sustainable House Day on Magnetic Island, this Sunday September 13, it is also great to hear that Queensland Country Credit Union is helping move us towards sustainable solutions by offering interest and fee free Green loans.

Queensland Country’s Green Loans provide access to funding for installation of solar, water, and energy efficiency products that have been recommended by an approved sustainability assessor.

Queensland Country Chief Executive Officer, Aileen Cull, said the implementation of Green Loans allows Members to make sustainable improvements to their homes without having to pay any interest or fees on what they borrow.

“Green Loans is just the start of supporting environmental initiatives as well as our aim to make a positive contribution in our members' lives and the communities they are part of.

“Providing interest free and fee free Green Loans allows us to do just that – support sustainable development in our Members’ homes at no extra cost to them.”

Members can borrow up to $10,000 over a maximum term of 4 years, repaying only the principal amount borrowed; incurring no interest and no establishment or ongoing fees.

Green Loans are still subject to normal lending criteria, with the only extra requirement being that the loan is for actions recommended in the home sustainability assessment report as provided by an accredited assessor.

Queensland Country is aware of AllSafe Energy Efficient Products and Ergon Energy providing assessments, however you can locate other accredited assessors in your area by visiting http://www.environment.gov.au/greenloans.

Sustainability assessments are free, being subsidised by the Government.
