Musos Club returns to Horseshoe this Friday night

As one of the key Island organisations behind the Bay Days Festival, Magnetic Island Musos Club will be presenting a special Musos Club Cabaret this Friday night at 8pm. And, for those who recall Musos Club's legendary nights at the old Sport and Rec Club in Horseshoe Bay. The word is, for one night only, Musos is back in Horseshoe, but this time at the Solar Cities Smart Lifestyle Centre, the fancy new name given to the old club house after its extensive, solar-driven, renovation.

The night is full of promise with a show that's intended to showcase some of the talent which the Club has and continues to nurture while presenting a very popular Townsville outfit, The Shaun Dempsey Quartet, mixed with some hot and breathy interludes from a rising star in beat-box: Mr Beau “Beaujangles” O'Brien (read here).

Shaun Dempsey and his talented line-up mix well-known ballards with beautiful vocal harmonies and fine musicianship. They have even done a version of the old Cold Chisel chestnut Khe Sanh that sounds fresh and bittersweet – especially to the Vietnam generation.

The Rocky Bay Band continues their exploration of the dub-reggae culture they handle so well and make it hard for audiences not to find their feet on the dance floor.

And of course The Jay Walkers have become Magnetic's youngest musical institution and have been this week working with visiting beat-boxer, the amazing Beaujangles who will be punctuating the evening with his vocal gymnastics and glottal stopping rhythms

If you haven't been to a Musos night then you won't know how easy it is to meet locals and enjoy the lifestyle Magnetic Island offers with great music, a few cool drinks and some wanton wiggling on the dance floor.

The Arcadia Surf Lifesaving Club will also be there with hot food. Snags and snarlers we hear and Musos Club will be running its own bar right through the evening.

As Musos members and friends of old will tell you the Sport and Rec Club house is a great venue where the adults can enjoy the vibes, musical and social, while the kids have a big oval next door to run about on if the music isn't enough.

A $5 donation (gold coin for members and free to under 18s) on entry helps the club continue its great work.

Musos Club are also keen to thank Sunferries, Fantasea Cruises and Tours, the Xerox Shop, the Solar Cities Smart Lifestyle Centre, YT's Crane Hire and Magnetic Island Pool Service for their in-kind sponsorship that goes so much of the way to make these great Island gigs keep happening.
