While actions may speak louder than words, actions can be worth little unless other people hear about them. That's part of the plan when Magnetic Island Nature Care, who organised the Climate Change 350 rally at Picnic Bay last month, are sitting down this Sunday for coffee, tea and cake with their pens at the ready to write to our leaders about climate change as a follow up from the colourful and compelling rally.

With a message gone out to members asking, "Remember the 350 Climate Change Action Rally?" MINCA are doing their best to make sure that the enthusiasm expressed at the rally doesn't fall on deaf ears.

It reads, "We gathered at the jetty, we listened to music, we heard compelling speakers - some of them world class marine scientists - we wore red for our group photo. We were asked to make a change to a low carbon lifestyle and make a pledge to write to our politicians on the need for strong, decisive action on Climate Change at the upcoming summit in Copenhagen.

"But if you haven't yet written your letters here is a great opportunity to do the job and have some fun, food and fine company when Magnetic Island Nature Care gather for afternoon tea and a letter writing session to our leaders over this planet-saving subject."

The message ends with, "Let's keep the momentum going and the pressure on our leaders. In years to come have a story to tell your grandkids when they ask you... “what did you do to fight climate change grandma/pa?”

Time: 2pm to 4pm
Where: Fat Possums Cafe at Nelly Bay

Letter writers are asked to bring paper, envelopes, stamps and pens (however these will also be provided if you forget).

No doubt the odd laptop may also be visible for some fast and furious emails.

Help with letter writing will also be available on the day including names and addresses of politicians along with a list of important points which can be made.
