Musos Club's first gig this decade on Saturday

Magnetic Island Musos Club returns for the first gig of the new decade this Saturday night and it's likely to be lots of fun with a big local line up which includes a new face on the block, Matt Whitton.

We hear that Matt is a singer and guitarist but the fun thing is that he is playing with Rocky Bay Band's Mark Hannan and between them have named themselves, at least for the night, The Matt Whitton Jam Band, so there seems a good opportunity for others to hop up and join in with their groove.

Pat and James from the Jay Walkers are, we hear, attending and may play a little too while Marley Hannan will no doubt continue to have his fun with Beatles' covers.

Yours truly accompanied by Neils Koelman on his heavenly mouth harps will be banging out some blues and beyond while Mark Braggins and Jeremy Barnes from Taylor Made will be improvising a little in the absence of their singer, still away on holidays, Murray Taylor.

It looks like an open ended affair but these hot summer nights have a great potential for spontaneous action that can set the little RSL Hall in Hayles Avenue rocking.

Nell will be back in the RSL kitchen with her delicious and very affordable Indonesian cuisine and the bar is open throughout. Coffee and delicious cake is now available later in the evening too.

MI Musos Club is a volunteer-run organisation set up to give local musicians an opportunity to perform in front of a friendly audience. Musos Club works to balance the emerging skills of inexperienced players alongside established performers so as to provide a paying audience with a range of music that encourages new comers but ensures a level of good quality music. If you are interested in playing it is best to contact the Club in advance so the line-up can be organised in advance.

Musos Club needs donations to survive and a $5 donation for non-members is appreciated and can be paid at the door. Under 18s are admitted free but must be in the company of a responsible adult.

Musos Club starts at 7pm at the RSL Hall in Hayles Avenue in Arcadia and finishes at midnight.

Anybody wishing to contact MI Musos Club can phone me (George) on 47785310 or email editor@magnetictimes.com
