Magnetic Island has an opportunity to help raise funds for the disaster-stricken people of Haiti with a special trivia night tomorrow at Base Backpackers in support of the Red Cross Appeal.

Acknowledging that the event was at short notice, Base Bar Manager, Will Gregg, told Magnetic Times, "Thursday 21st January at 7pm we're hosting a fundraising trivia night for the Red Cross Appeal, in support of the earthquake victims in Haiti.

"We've received huge support from the community already, with over $2000 worth of prizes donated to be auctioned and raffled on the night. These include open water dive courses, beauty treatments, dinners, sunset cruises, food and beverage hampers and holiday packs to name a few.

"Entry is $5 (with a glass of champagne on arrival), and $20 will enter you into the unlimited raffle drawn over the evening. All proceeds from door, auctions and raffles, including profits taken from the bar will go directly to the Red Cross Appeal in Haiti.

"A fantastic cause to come and support, as well as a hugely entertaining and fun night promised to all."

Will Gregg was also keen to thank the local and national businesses who have already supported the night, including: Reef Safari, Reef HQ, Foodworks, Sunferries, Fishin' and Fuel'n', Peppers, Endota Spa, Hairport, Providence, Topless Car Rentals, Magnetic Island Bike Hire, All Seasons Resort, Restaurant Paradis, Bacardi Lion, Lion Nathan and Suntory.
