Wednesday 24 February, from 5.30pm to 10pm at Peppers Blue On Blue, Tourism Operators & Businesses Magnetic Island (TOBMI), will host around 80 Visitor Information Centre staff from around Queensland who will be visiting Magnetic Island this month to see what the island has to offer tourists. The Queensland Visitor Information Centre staff are attending a conference hosted by Townsville Enterprise, but will make the special trip to Magnetic Island as part of the conference program.
For most of the delegates, this will be their first time on Magnetic Island and TOBMI will be presenting delegates with a small gift from the island.
Chair of TOBMI, Lindsay Simpson, believes the visit will provide a great opportunity to promote all the great things that Magnetic Island has to offer.
“We are hoping that many tourism operators and island businesses will see the benefits of attending the event. It’s a chance to promote tours, accommodation and activities and leave the delegates with a wonderful lasting memory of our island and what it has to offer,” she said.
TOBMI have also planned a discussion forum for the same evening, which is designed for artists and anyone interested in promoting the island’s art and culture to brainstorm and discuss ideas. This valuable forum will help TOBMI to develop and promote Magnetic Island arts, history and culture in the year to come.
