Townsville to host winter "A" series cricket
First class cricket will return to North Queensland this winter following confirmation today that Townsville’s Tony Ireland Stadium will host Australia ‘A’ for the second year in a row.Cricket Australia informed Queensland Cricket that Townsville would host a four-day first class match, a Twenty20 game and two One-Day games during June and July as part of the Sri Lanka ‘A’ tour.
Allan Border Field in Brisbane will also host a first class game and a One Day game during the tour which will start on 18 June and finish on 11 July.
Townsville also hosted the Australia ‘A’ and Pakistan ‘A’ series last year.
