First class cricket will return to North Queensland this winter following confirmation today that Townsville’s Tony Ireland Stadium will host Australia ‘A’ for the second year in a row.

Cricket Australia informed Queensland Cricket that Townsville would host a four-day first class match, a Twenty20 game and two One-Day games during June and July as part of the Sri Lanka ‘A’ tour.

Allan Border Field in Brisbane will also host a first class game and a One Day game during the tour which will start on 18 June and finish on 11 July.

Townsville also hosted the Australia ‘A’ and Pakistan ‘A’ series last year.
