Severe weather on the way
After recent downpours, a severe weather warning from the trusty Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) predicting 200mm or more for tonight, and a low in the Gulf that could turn cyclonic, Magnetic Islanders should take care particularly near flooding creeks and drains.According to the BOM: "Heavy rain, which may lead to localised flash flooding, is expected overnight and Sunday over coastal and adjacent inland parts between Cardwell and St Lawrence. 24 hour totals in excess of 200mm are likely with isolated higher totals possible. Locations which may be affected include Ingham, Townsville, Ayr, Bowen, Proserpine and Mackay." (Read here)
And after a late look at the Island's most impressive drainage nightmare, Apjohn Street in Horseshoe Bay, where we took a snap after much of the water had subsided yesterday, one can only feel for the sodden denizens of the area, as the water rises again, waiting for Council to get cracking with a serious drainage solution.
