Arcadia to eat with a Calypso beat
"My passion has been to own a restaurant and live on a tropical Island," is how newcomer to Magnetic, David Buch, explains why he has just arrived on Magnetic Island to open a Caribbean style restaurant.David, with a background in information technology is also a committed foodie. He hails originally from South Africa but has been working in Scotland and Belgium more recently.
David's restaurant is to be called Calypso Restaurant and will be located in the former bakery (next to Banisters) in McCabe Crescent, Arcadia.
"It's a dream come true" says David who is presently interviewing staff after having just hired a chef, Mason La Trobe, who comes with 19 years experience cooking around the world..
"It will be a Caribbean in style. We want lots of Salsa sounds and to make it a lively funky place" said David.
With the aim of building a sense of excitement about the restaurant with live music David has been keen to hear the sorts of music being produced by Islanders, turning up at last Saturday's Muso's Club for a taste of the Island's sounds
