MI Sea Kayaks: finalists

Magnetic Island Sea Kayaks Magnetic Island Sea Kayaks' Steve and Lucy Rowland are on a roll. As recipient of two top awards at the recent North Queensland Tourism Awards, the tiny Island eco-tourism business is cutting it with some of the top operators in the state, after being announced as the only North Queensland business to list amongst the finalists in Tourism Queensland's State Tourism Awards last Friday night.

Steve, who leads a small fleet of sea kayaks out of Horseshoe Bay each day, told MT that making it as the only North Queensland operator into the finalists list was, "Fantastic!".

Steve's tour takes visitors around to Balding and Radical Bays where many different species of marine animals, birds and other wildlife can be seen. Steve adds to the experience with an interpretive commentary on what can be seen on the trip.

On any day his group is likely to see, sea turtles, dolphins, and a range of birds including ospreys, sea eagles, brahmany kites, egrets, boobies, tattlers, darters, sooty oyster catchers, nankeen kestrels, swiftlets, swallows, terns and more.

As a paddler I just typed "kayak" into the Google news search section and you came up first. That's the sort of publicity that you can buy. Keep it up and good luck. Cheers David
