Schoolies' theft but victim giggling
Magnetic Island resident, nursing sister and sexual health specialist Rose Gordon today reported the overnight theft of 1,800 condoms from her sexual health advice tent at Alma Bay.But as the condoms, which also promote free advice on genital herpies, were to be given away, Rose could not have been happier. "Im just really pleased that it appears that schoolies have been so enthusiastic in accessing 'health hardware'" she said giggling.
The condoms and lots of other free material promoting sexual health, as well as cheap tickets to the forthcoming Powderfinger concert, are part of Queensland Sexual Health's program to engage schoolies during their stay on Magnetic Island.
Rose was however far more concerned at the number of schoolies from Catholic schools visiting her tent seeking advice. "There have been kids from Catholic schools who have had no sexual education coming to me for information and support" she said.
One of Rosie's other activities has been to organise a Schoolies Scavenger Hunt for which prizes include: 1st: $100 QCCU account and a $25 Sanity voucher, 2nd: $75 Sanity voucher and 3rd: a $50 Sanity voucher.
