Information meeting for Island businesses after Yasi
Following is an important message for Magnetic Island business owners from the Department of Employment, Economic Development and Innovation (DEEDI) regarding a meeting with information on the latest economic and recovery efforts following Cyclone Yasi.Yasi economic recovery: Information meeting for Magnetic Island business
MAGNETIC ISLAND businesses will be able to access the latest information about Cyclone Yasi economic recovery efforts at a meeting to be held on Thursday, March 31.
The Department of Employment, Economic Development and Innovation (DEEDI) is organising the meeting, to be held at the Magnetic Island RSL.
“Magnetic Island businesses, particularly those in the tourism sector, are still recovering from Cyclone Yasi,” DEEDI executive regional director Peter Mellor said.
“The meeting is being held to make local businesses across all sectors aware of the assistance available, and how they can access it.”
Mr Mellor said DEEDI’s team of business recovery officers would attend, and information from agencies including QRAA, Centrelink and the Australian Tax Office would be available.
DEEDI officers will give a brief overview of initiatives such as the appointment of Industry Recovery Officers.
