Musos Club returns tonight to the RSL Hall in Arcadia with a range of Island musos set to make for another great Island night of entertainment.
Last month Bananaband, the new name for veteran Island musos Mark Hannan and Ray Kennedy, now working together, made a delightful debut with a set full of vintage reggae. Not just a pleasure to hear but fascinating us with some lesser-known music history.
Yours truly and the marvelous Niels Koelman - who (Niels that is) must be north Queensland’s hottest harmonica talent - hopped up and were joined on piano by the superb sounds of Jeremy Barnes. Tonight may see that start go a little further. Mal Hamilton will also perform and with his witty/thoughtful songs will add extra depth to the line-up. Regular stand-up Marley is back again and we hear that, guitarist/singer and songwriter Bruno Berthalot - Musos’ talent discovery for 2010 is also returning for a set of sweet and soulful songs from his life.
One never know what else might happen at Musos Club which makes for some very creative surprises on the night so why not come down for some excellent and very affordable food from Anci’s kitchen. Last month the cheesecake was said by some to be the best they’d ever had and the hot food wasn’t far behind. The bar is open throughout but be aware that Musos Club now starts at 7.30pm.
Magnetic Island Musos Club is held on the second Saturday of the month and although a donation of $5 for non-members is sought on admission a gold coin is appropriate for members. Better for anybody who is interested in Island music is to join the club which is just $10 for adults and $20 for families. Under 18s are very welcome and no donation is sought but they must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
