A new sign was erected last week at the Arcadia barge landing on Geoffrey Bay to help stop visitors and locals from feeding the wallabies which gather there, or, at least, get them to change the foods they use from those which are damaging to those which are suitable.

A sunset soiree - the first for Friends of Magnetic Island was held recently on Nobby Head where Tony and Judy Finlay have just won an Individual Environmental Award for their sensitive development of the stunningly picturesque headland.

Magnetic Island's World Heritage status has been questioned in the past by Townsville City Council and some individuals. The matter was clarified by the Federal Environment Minister some years ago but, as the question continues to be raised by members, Friends of Magnetic Island have sought clarification more recently and, for the benefit of all, the following letter form Environment Minister, Senator Ian Campbell makes the position clear.
