Magnetic Island Ranger in Charge, Mr Patrick Centurino, is keen to hear feedback from the public on a new walking track the Queensland Parks & Wildlife Service is proposing which would enable walkers to travel from Nelly Bay or Arcadia to the Forts carpark without needing to cross the Horseshoe Bay hill road which has been identified as potentially dangerous to pedestrians.

QPWS Rangers clean up the rubbish
No respect
Last Saturday night there was a large beach party at the far end of Horseshoe Bay. When daylight returned visitors to the beach were to discover a stinking mess of broken bottles, cans and other rubbish spread out over a wide area and surrounding a fireplace, the flames of which could have easily gotten away from the drunken party goers who are believed to have been attending the 18th birthday of a young man from Nelly Bay.

The planned burn creeping over the hill tops of Magnetic Island has produced more smoke today on the western flanks but appears, on the ground, to be doing what was hoped for by Island rangers.
